Look, Ma – No Blogs! ESI Shows Why WordPress Won Best Open-Source CMS in 2009

New Mexico Film Affiliates new web directory coming soon

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) January 27, 2010

Technology services company East Summit, Inc (DBA ESI Web Services) has launched a campaign to reveal the true power of WordPress to the small and medium enterprises that can benefit most from its features.

Although WordPress is great for blogging, it also has sophisticated content management capabilities built into its core. Developers can create complex, powerful websites more easily than they can on their own or with competing packages like Drupal and Joomla. Best of all, clients can update their own site content without having to pay a web designer every time they need to change a comma—without having to learn any HTML or PHP.

That’s why WordPress won Packt Publishing’s Best Open Source CMS Award in 2009 (http://www.packtpub.com/award)]. And that’s why more and more SMBs are turning to WordPress when it’s time to build their websites.

Marina Marsh, president of ESI Web Services, explains: “When clients ask us if this can be done or that can be added to their site, we never have to say no. With WordPress it is possible to add, upgrade, expand without spending a fortune. A complex site with a lot of custom coding added, which would typically cost ,000+ if an enterprise CMS were used, costs ,000 – ,000 with WordPress. We can create a fully functional online business solution with features like shopping cart, membership area, directory listing, newsletter subscription, forum, SEO and much more for under ,000. Plus it is very easy for clients to understand and use the admin tools and it requires very little training to get them up to speed.”

WordPress has the flexibility to serve many different types of businesses. ESI has experienced no problems meeting the stringent security requirements of financial services firms when using WordPress. The company’s developers are just putting the finishing touches on an e-commerce site for InWeave Rugs and a directory site for New Mexico Film Affiliates. Other customers include such diverse entities as Dallas Birth and Women’s Center , Managed Petroleum , Élan Fundraising , and more.

A WordPress site doesn’t have to look like a blog, either. Those who have only seen the handful of themes available to WordPress.com users will be amazed at the possibilities. If you look at the samples at www.esiwebservices.com, you’ll notice that none of them looks like a typical blog.

ESI’s developers and customers also like WordPress for its inherent search-engine friendliness, easy backups, and ready integration with popular social media tools like Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter. Clients can even create their own social networks with WordPress. Offline editing tools like Windows Live Writer and Ecto make it possible to update a WordPress site without being connected to the Internet. And expanding a website is easy: there’s no need to overhaul the whole design just to add new pages, or even a whole section like a store or a discussion forum.

Experienced users of WordPress warn that while anyone can set up a basic blog and choose a free theme, creating a complex, custom site requires considerable experience with the system and appropriate design and development skills. A major site with SEO (search engine optimization) , an online store with dozens or hundreds of products, integration with Salesforce.com, and custom plugins can take more than 100 hours even for experts to build.

That’s still a fraction of the time it used to take to construct such a site from scratch in HTML. All business owners have to do to cut their site development costs in half—and drive their site maintenance costs down to a tenth of what they were—is to stop thinking of WordPress as a blogging platform, and start thinking of it as the answer to their web development needs.

The new Socialize plug-in enables WordPress sites to easily add multi-dimensional social and authentication functionality by providing a single point of access to Facebook Connect, MySpaceID, Sign in with Twitter as well as OpenID providers like Gmail, Yahoo! WordPress sites that implement the plug-in have immediate access to a variety of powerful authentication and social features. Users can log into the site using their social network or webmail identity, enabling the Socialize plug-in to personalize the user experience by displaying the user’s name and image. Users can also update their status, promoting their activity to the newsfeeds of their social network, or invite specific social network friends with a custom message, driving traffic back to the original site. The Socialize WordPress plug-in also enables users to post comments on blog posts directly to their newsfeed on Facebook.

With the Socialize WordPress plug-in any site can allow users to share content or a specific event on the website. By integrating user profile and social graph data, Socialize makes the user experience social.

“It has never been easier to add so many social features to a WordPress powered site,” said Patrick Salyer, Director, Business Development, Gigya Inc. “No engineering skills are needed to add this functionality to your WordPress Toolbox. It is a great way to include seamless authentication, social and sharing features on any WordPress website.”

Gigya has also released a plug-in for Wildfire, the industry standard platform for sharing content to more than 70 destinations. The Wildfire WordPress plug-in enables bookmarking and email functionality for blog posts, providing another way for users to share content with friends and followers.

Socialize’s code is also OpenSource, so developers can customize it as desired for their specific site needs.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) May 28, 2009

Social media company RawVoice Inc., a leader in podcast advertising and podcasting tools, has introduced a revolutionary update to PowerPress, the Podcast Plugin for WordPress. The PowerPress Plugin now integrates with the RawVoice Podcast Hosting Services Platform at Blubrry.com by adding a podcast statistics summary to your WordPress dashboard. The update also adds the ability to select media hosted by Blubrry within WordPress, simplifying the publishing process.

“New podcasters have the challenge of overcoming the technical requirements of publishing a podcast,” explains Todd Cochrane, RawVoice CEO. “While the Plugin is a powerful standalone, this important new integration with our hosting and statistic service makes podcast publishing easy.”

Podcasters who host their media through the RawVoice publishing services now enjoy a simple three-step publishing process:

Podcasters upload their media using the Media Uploader.
In their WordPress blog, they select the uploaded file in the ‘Add Post’ menu.
    Then they hit ‘Publish.’

“The Plugin has the best iTunes support in the space, optimizing the feed to be 100 percent iTunes and Zune Marketplace compliant,” Cochrane stresses. “While this version supports many new features, such as automated ID3 tag writing, category feeds and multi-language support, we have ensured that those who do not use our services are not impacted in any way by the new integrated features.”

The PowerPress Podcast Plugin is free and available here.

RawVoice Inc. is the parent company of the podcasting and videocasting social media websites at Blubrry.com, Techpodcasts.com, PodcasterNews. The company was founded in 2005 by Cochrane, podcasting pioneer and author of the book Podcasting: Do It Yourself Guide.

WordPress Plugin Displays Google Analytics Stats in Dashboard

The traffic-over-time chart shows when a post was published or an email campaign was sent in relation to the numbers of site visits.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 15, 2009

A new plugin for WordPress displays tracking data from Google Analytics, WordPress and MailChimp, all integrated together into a single WordPress dashboard. The plugin is provided free of charge by MailChimp and can be downloaded at the wordpress.org plugin directory . A MailChimp account is not required to access the Google Analytics information.

The Analytics360 Plugin provides a comprehensive view of a blog’s performances, allowing publishers to quickly identify which posts are enjoying the most inbound traffic whether from web site referrals or by email. The traffic-over-time chart shows when a post was published or an email campaign was sent in relation to the numbers of site visits, giving a clear view on cause and effect.

Google Analytics is rich with information. This plugin accesses the most relevant information for a blogger and displays it in an actionable way. For example the plugin displays all blog referral sources and provides a drill down path showing the most popular posts. The plugin also includes a world map. Hovering over a country shows the number of blog visitors from that country. Analytics360 provides real-time access to both Google Analytics and MailChimp allowing for instant date range changes.

“Bringing WordPress and Google Analytics together is like mixing peanut butter with chocolate. A natural fit and prefect to the tastes of power bloggers,” says Ben Chestnut, Co-Founder of MailChimp. “We use both applications heavily and wanted to share our tools with the blogging community at large.”

MailChimp supports email for many blogs with a free RSS-to-Email option that updates subscribers whenever a new post is published. MailChimp also developed a simple to install WordPress plugin to manage email list signups.

The Analytics360 plugin was developed for MailChimp by Crowd Favorite using the Google visualization toolset for rendering the dashboard charts. The plugin will work in the self-hosted versions of WordPress including the multi-user version.

In order to take advantage of this plugin, subscribers need to be running Google Analytics on their WordPress site already. Then all they have to do is download and install the Analytics360 plugin and enter their MailChimp and Google Analytics login info. MailChimp takes care of the rest.

About MailChimp:

MailChimp, a leading do-it-yourself marketing service, provides tools to over 80,000 small businesses, design agencies, non-profits, restaurants, and e-Commerce organizations worldwide. Customers can create professional, eye-catching HTML emails in minutes with easy-to-use web based tools. MailChimp offers a completely free account for users with 100 subscribers or less, and for larger accounts offers two affordable pricing programs: monthly and pay-as-you-go.
